American University’s School of International Service offers professional training in international affairs. The programs are based on an interdisciplinary curriculum oriented towards the liberal arts that encourages students to explore foreign affairs through the contributions of political scientists, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, attorneys, historians, and specialists in communications.

The School of International Service includes seven divisions: Comparative and Regional Studies, International Communication, United States Foreign Policy, International Economic Policy, International Politics, International Peace and Conflict Resolution, and International Development.
